How not to be an idiot when talking to sponsors!

Money, yep that says it all, without it everything turns to shit!!!!

When people ask a sponsor such as me for money so that they can put our logo onto their shirts and websites or go and represent us – what are you really saying to me???

What you should be saying is, “Hey Joe, by investing in our team the money you spend will come back to you 5 fold and here are numbers that prove that our sponsors have seen significant gains in sales since they have been associated with us”.

Incase the Monster propaganda has diluted your brains, that means for every dollar I spent with you I will get back 5 more from sales that you helped push to me somehow”

That sounds great - right?

But, what most of you say is, “hey Joe, give us money and we will help make your brand and give you exposure by being part of our team.”

If you don’t see a difference you’re an idiot, plain and simple.

Ah, money that what’s it all about, Xfuel needs to sell drinks to make money and then we can spend more money on people who make money for us – get it – very freakin simple – why they don’t teach like this in school I have no idea?

So, even the big brands like Monster in the last 6 months have cut back sponsor dollars in big way. We personally know an Xgame gold medalist who lost mid 6 figure sponsor deals with Monster – why? He may be great at what he does but he doesn’t have loyal fans that do what he tells them to do.

What the frig is Joe saying? If I told you to eat shit, would you? Of course not!!!! If I gave you a free bottle of Xfuel and said drink it, you would do it on the spot – right?

There’s the difference, if you can make people do something they wouldn’t do on their own then your value to sponsors is off the charts!!!!!!!

More on this tomorrow I’m going somewhere good with this.

Why do most teams and bands fail to stay together?

Since I’m in this “helping” kick mode now let’s talk about what your team, pod cast or website is worth to an advertiser such as Xfuel. Because when I boil every conversation down to the bottom-line most of the teams, sites etc are really looking for one thing – money.

Money keeps everything together, all most everyone one of you is a volunteer of some sort. You keep your websites up and going because you love it, you get onto a team because at first you like all the players and they all seem committed to winning.

It sounds familiar, right? It’s just like every rock band that starts out in someone’s garage; we have great hopes and lots of skills and then money rips it apart – why is that?

If the team or band had money they could do lots of things like practice more because, well they really need it, they suck at that point – who’s kidding who???

They could buy better controllers or guitars etc but for now they use what they have and get jealous of other teams/bands with better stuff – just human nature nothing to be ashamed of!!

They could afford to travel together and show up at tournaments where they can prove themselves similar to bands paying their own way to go to battle of bands nights to get recognition – see it’s all the same.

They could build a better website, make flyers, and promote themselves – if only we had MONEY!!!!!

If teams or bands could do all of that above and not worry about going to work to pay for a car, house, food, clothing etc, etc and just do all the things above – do you think more of you would stay together and maybe be like the Rolling Stones – playing together and making money for 40 years??????

So, really most teams just want money and nothing else because if they had money they wouldn’t need sponsors, they would do what they need to do to get ahead and stay together.

I know I said know what you want and ask for it and I want you to, but you also need to understand what your worth in real dollars – we’ll get there in due time.

If your going to ask for something don't be stupid at least read the friggin Menu first!!!

Here’s my thought for today, you know I get requests everyday for sponsorships (because most of you sent them to me). Every team, clan, internet pod cast, you tube channel, etc all want to be sponsored.

What exactly does “sponsored” mean???

This seems to be a hard thing for most of you gamers to articulate, I hear responses like this:
- We want to be associated with Xfuel
- We want to have the Xfuel logo on our jerseys
- We want to be an Xfuel team and travel to tournaments for you
- We want to be on the Xfuel website, we want Xfuel to be on our website
- We want to be partnered with Xfuel
- We just want money to do the things we need to grow our teams

The list goes on and on and I’m going to spend several days on this subject so read, think about it and read what I write again!

It goes back to my son Frozenghost001 and how I believe gaming has helped change the way he goes through life. I think as I get older (47 yrs old in 2 more weeks) I feel myself wanting to give back to this community and here I have a great audience of young people whom many of which have great potential, big enough balls to ask companies for money and some degree of natural internet marketing skills – yet most of you are missing the same couple key ingredients in my mind to succeed in being able to finance their dreams.

I’ll start with, “you need to know what you want before you ask someone for something

I know this sounds very simple but it’s not, you go into McDonald’s look at the menu, decide what you’re having. When the person behind the counter asks “may I help you”, without hesitation you are able to clearly and concisely ask for a “number 13 meal with a Dr Pepper (for you MLG'ers)”.

When you’re asking me or any other sponsor for something you need to know what you’re asking for and ask for that, you can not say some of the things I listed above – they are too vague!!!!

I can’t read minds, I don’t understand “associated with” or “partnered with”, like I told one team leader, “give me a check for $500,000 and you get 5% of Xfuel and we are now partnered”.

Know what you want to get out of it, ask for it and then you can negotiate.

I have plenty to teach you so sit back, keep reading and then try some of my suggestions – you’ll see a difference!

Monster Assault Energy - the only thing they assault is gamer's Intelligence

Holly shit, I just get done giving Monster a plug and Frozenghost001 had to run to store this week and get a 4 pack of the new Monster Assault Energy. I pick up an empty can and it is a good product as are all the Monster drinks. Coming from the maker of the Xfuel xtreme energy shot that is a profound statement, then again Monster's attempts at energy shots - well you know how they compare to the drinks they make - enough on that!

Why do I say, "the only thing they assault is gamer Intelligence", read the back of the can:

At Monster we don't get too hung up on politics. We're not for "the war", "against the war", or "any war for that matter".

We put the "camo" pattern on our new Monster Assault can because we think it looks cool. Plus it helps fire us up to fight the big multi-national companies who dominate the beverage business.

Ok, they think your stupid period - Monster is in business to sell drinks and the war doesn't matter to them - DA!!! I can agree with their stance as any smart business would, no sense offending someone if you don't have to.

"We put the camo pattern on ... because we think it looks cool", don't tell me you're all f**kin stupid and believe that one??? they finally realized you gamers exist, not that that's bad but I guess they realized not everyone can ride a skateboard or do back flips on a bicycle! So, since they ignored you for how many years now they think they can get you all back with a little "camo" - please "camo" your lame ass attempts a little better?

The worse one of all fire us up to fight the big multi-national companies who dominate the beverage business - MONSTER fired all their little distributors last year and went with Coke a Cola to be their sole distributor and co-packer. How the F**K is that fighting the big companies you jackass when your with the biggest of the big - what a bunch of liar azzholes.

Monster thinks you gamers are idiots - wake the f**k up will you don't fall for this bullsh*t - they are the big evil guys they just have on camo to help cover it up more!!!!

So Guitar Hero is ruining the music business - NOT?

Here's what I want you to do, watch this video first http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2zna2nFtY0c - I'll say this was a great night, but was shocked at the amount of people that spoke to me about how "games like this (Guitar Hero, Rock Band) are depriving our children of real music".

Ok, let's focus on one incident in particular, 2 woman (just what I thought) ride up on a Harley Davidson and get off the bike and for some reason 1 talks to me while the other goes inside for Windmill hot dogs.

She was very nice and asked "what's up here?". Me being me I explain about Xfuel, the WRAT and this is a promotional event and the one playing Guitar Hero now is my son.

Well, she goes off on me about how terrible these fake music games are and yada, yada, yada she goes on, because she a "real" musician (would have never guessed she fancied herself an artist - go figure)

Why do people feel the need to bitch at me with all their problems and concerns about the world and where it's heading - do I of all people look like a friggin shrink?????

Anyway, I say to her "You ever heard the song Jukebox Hero, the boy is inspired to play the guitar based on hearing one lone guitar?"

As usual I get the rant back about the game is not same, doesn't have all the notes, not really playing the music, etc.

I just wanted to say "shut the F**K up, get back on your bike and ride the hell out of here!!"

No, I didn't say that, I explain to her that sales in music stores of real guitars has gone up since these games came out, today's youth is being exposed to music that they haven't played on the radio for 20 years and the stations that do play it certainly don't have this demographic listening. The fact that my son wanted a real electric guitar and takes lesson now along with countless other in our town because of games like this is a GOOD thing!

You know she came around, her and her partner stayed awhile watched thanked us for allowing them to see a different side of video games and rode off into the night.

4 lessons / advice here from this story:

  1. exposure to music no matter how the kids get it IS A GOOD THING

  2. playing any of the music games IS A GOOD THING

  3. once again video games has helped bridge the diversity gap, video games know no color, race, preference or religion it IS A GOOD THING

  4. parents don't be anal a**holes if your kid wants to play electric guitar and you can afford it - let them!!!! Don't make them learn acoustic guitar first, this is why many kids quit lessons they want to be a JUKEBOX HERO - let them try it on an electric guitar, this IS A GOOD THING

One closing thought - I just don't understand how these 35 year old and up people / parents are able to function at all in life, the fact that they just don't see that Guitar Hero is a video game and that Gibson and Fender make guitars - the two companies are not trying to replace or compete with each other - are these people just that stupid that they can't see this? YES, that is why you have to educates them!

Monster Energy drinks vs the Xfuel energy shot

This is Joe Gere for those of you that don't know I'm writing the blogs now as "apache41" my favorite boat in the world -hope to own one some day!!! Thanks for the kind remarks and I'm trying to continue to fill these pages with funny and useful information, now to today's story.

This is funny, I'm at a trade show (non-beverage) today and by 1:00 the person in the booth next to us is looking tired and I see them pull out a Red Bull. I ask how they like it and the usual answer, "need the energy, hate the taste".

I offer the woman an Xfuel shot and she responds with "Oh, no those shots are too strong for me", I tell her "drink half then!" Still no way that stuff is bad for you.

This is why I say, "you either get Xfuel or you don't".

Xfuel is not here to be something you enjoy and savor, it does taste good like a fine aged whiskey but it's no Budweiser. Monster is like drinking a beer at the bar, you sip it, you have a couple of them over time and you go home. You can't sip a shot, well unless you have no balls?

The hard core guy with the big balls comes in the bar and orders "a shot and beer" (or boilermaker in some circles), you take the whiskey shot for the potency and the beer to wash it down and fill your stomach up.

Monster is like a beer, Xfuel is like a shot of whiskey they both do the same thing you just need more of one to equal the other!

So, why not skip that foul tasting Red Bull all together and have an Xster - 2 oz Xfuel shot with 16 oz Monster chaser next time you really feel the need for energy?????

Are some parents just freakin idiots???

I can't tell you how many negative remarks I've heard from parents or other "adults" since we started Xfuel about gaming / gamers in general - countless!!

I do want to thank the non-brain parents that walk up to us when we are somewhere with the Xfuel trailer and thank us for making a product like Xfuel with no sugars, etc, etc and full of vitamin C. They also see value in their kids playing video games and being somewhere that they at least know where they are.

So, yesterday I'm getting my hair cut and go to a barber not a stylist (it's cheaper, sorry!) and the woman barber alongside me and the man in the chair that she is "grooming" are having a discussion. Let's say the man being groomed was you typical football parent, nothing wrong with football but like when people say typical "gamer" he was typical "football parent". Everyone of you know people like this guy, 40 years old with football jersey on shorts and backward baseball cap - don't you?????

Anyway, the "my son plays video games too much" comes out of his mouth and those who know me know I have to debate this now!!!!

I say, "Video games aren't so bad, what's the problem with them?"

Ok, here is a partial list of things the whole barber shop gangs up against me with:

  • the kids get no exercise
  • the kids don't get fresh air
  • the kids don't interact with real people
  • there are pervs out there stalking them and trying to lure them into doing things - haven't you ever watched DateLine????
  • all those killing games make them crazy and put thoughts in their head
  • carpel tunnel syndrome
  • yada, yada yada you have heard these plus 200 more over and over - right?
So, I get knocked around the first round, cover up allot and let them take their best shots at me and I'm still standing. Round 2 starts and I come out very calm and don't argue any of those points, agree with some but ask questions:

  • Yes, I agree, we all could exercise more and look at both of us, we could loose a few pounds, we need some more exercise don't we?
  • Do you leave your kids inside to play video games with all your windows closed and the central air on constantly, sleep with the windows closed things like that? Maybe you should leave some windows open some time get some fresh air????
  • We have that new fangled xbox live system and my kids play and talk with hundreds of kids from all over the world and my kids work together with these total strangers on pick-up games as a team to defeat some other strangers. I bet your kids text alot, don't like talking to people do they?
  • When your kids leave the house and go to mall or you drop them off there I bet there aren't any other kids there looking to smoke, drink or do some act that minors shouldn't be doing?
  • Do you think that person on-line can exert more influence over your kids then than a group of their peers at the mall or movies can when they try to embarrass your kid to do something that maybe you didn't teach them was wrong to do in the first place?
  • I used to watch the Coyote get crushed, run over, fall off a cliff, etc, etc as a child, I'm sure you did too, how many times did you stand in front of a speeding train to see if you would not get killed?
  • Let me ask you what are the chances of your kids playing pro sports since your genes don't look to be the greatest?
  • At your job, do you spend most of your day on the phone or digging ditches?
  • So, all that football and being outside prepared you how for the job you have now, seems to me if maybe you had spent some more time with technology you be driving a BMW instead of a Honda?
  • No thanks on the advice, I'll let my kids continue to learn computer skills, how to work as a team with diverse groups of people from all over the world, learn that videos game are just games and YES someone has to win but doesn't mean you have berate the other guy because next match he might be on your team - we've fine the way we are!
So, were they right, put down your controllers and learn how to do something that you maybe you can't make a living doing, acquire skills that enable you to do manual labor and just grow up to be content sitting around bitchin about everyone else who took a different path?

NOT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Parents and gamers alike there is a fine balance to what kids should be doing and some of each is a wonderful thing, the problem is too many parents can only see their side of it because they are afraid of what they don't understand, or want to accept what the world is changing or they just suck at video games in general - so forgive them, don't let what they say bother you, try to do some of both and move on.

Thanks hope you enjoyed my Saturday!!

Do these energy drink review websites think your stupid because you play video games?

YES

Ok, there are a bunch of energy drink "review" (as they call themselves) websites out there. When we started I used to get requests to review our product and I would send a few bottles. The funny thing was some these sites would call me and ask to do a half ass interview with us (most never got written) and then not to name anyone but sites like Bev.jerkoff.com would have the balls to say, "There is a $350 charge to expedite your review."

Well, if they're truly a review website why should I pay you to do a faster review of my product, isn't it their job to review drinks? Does that not seem like they are going to be bias toward people that give them money? Look at the review sites where some companies have large photos of their drinks and others have small ones and people like Xfuel have none!!!!

Wow, seems like a child's tale doesn't it, "this little piggy went....and this little piggy had none" - these sites think your a child.

Look at the sites that Xfuel has reviews are on, the ones that are fair where every product has a picture and they are equal in size or the You Tube vids where people do it for free - we get good reviews.

You gamers are smarter than that, you can see through that bullshit game - right?

Xfuel does not pay anyone to print a story or write a review about us, you either get what we are or you don't and if you don't - then don't, screw you, don't buy our product!!!!

You do realize that any website that is full of ads for a company and then writes great reviews on them time after time is full of F**K'in shit!!!! - right?

People open your eyes, your the largest and fastest growing market of consumers in the country, do not let yourself be swayed by people that just want to make money off of you.

In the almost the year that Xfuel has been around has my story changed? Have we continued to support fellow gamers as best we can??? We're a pimple on Monster's ass and so small that Coke doesn't know we exist, our pockets are not very deep people. BUT, to the thousands of you that I personally call on the phone, write notes to on a weekly basis - we support you and thank you for believing in and buying Xfuel!!!

Hell, we even give you the chance to make money with us, spotted you some product early on, shirts, get you business cards, email addresses, etc, etc and do we charge you for anything other than product - NO.

That's all for today!

Joe Gere

Finally going to start expressing my thoughts!

Hi, I'm Joe Gere,http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=icVX8fHJ53A I'm the person who started putting together the team we have today that is Xfuel. My sons Frozenghost001 and xXxzetoxXx on that memorable New Year's Eve blurted out the name Xfuel for a gamers energy drink and the rest as they say is history. Now that Xfuel has grown to the point that we have people to do all the things I was doing I can devote time to what I hope will become a daily blog where I hope to shead light on some of the issues gamers have.

I get many emails daily from gamers and young people in general about Xfuel so today I just want to answer a few of those questions:

Why should I buy Xfuel over 5 hr Energy or Monster?

  1. 2 1/2 times stronger than Red Bull (would you rather have Wings or Balls?)

  2. Tastes better than Rockstar or Venom (bad tasting things give you bad breath)

  3. None of the sugar that Monster has (do you want your teeth to fall out?)

  4. 5 Hr energy is something you see your granny drinking (believe me, getting old sucks as it is, you don't want to look old before your time)

  5. It costs less to get your energy from Xfuel (what do 3 cans of Monster or Red Bull cost vs $3 for 1 Xfuel - don't waste your money)

This is simple shit - you either get what Xfuel is or you don't, if what I wrote above isn't good enough to explain why we're better you probably don't have the balls to be drinking Xfuel.

So, stop your whining and just don't buy it - we won't be upset!

Now, I hope you find the things I'm going to talk about interesting and continue to follow us and if you do please tell your friends about us and they can't follow us as well.

Thank you,

Joe Gere

Xfuel Creates New Starter Kit For Gamers

At Xfuel we understand the high cost of starting a team. Everyone wants to look good, have matching shirts and display their game tag on back, you know what I mean. There are many companies out there that offer screen printing of shirts but they are expensive if you just want 4 shirts and each shirt has a different tag on it – hold on to your wallet!

Xfuel is a small, young enterprise, like you have dreams of being champions; we have dreams of being the best gaming drink company out there. Like many of you want to expand your teams, we want to expand Xfuel as well and it takes time and money – both of which are in short supply with any new venture, whether it’s a growing team or growing drink company.

Xfuel does many things at our factory that other drink companies simply just don’t do to keep our costs down. We have our own graphic designers, print our own flyers, posters, business cards, vinyl banners, and tee shirts!

Xfuel has decided to open its factory and make available a starter kit for new gaming teams. We’re running a special where if you supply us with a 300dpi by 12” graphic of your logo in a JPEG, TIFF or PSD format only along with your 4 gamer tags, we’ll print you individual team tee shirts (white only, logo on front only and “Power by Xfuel with gamer tag on back)) and include a 12 pack of Xfuel to Take your Game to the next level for only $75. That’s $10 for each shirt plus 12 Xfuel and we’ll throw in shipping for free!!!!

Here are some we do now:
http://www.shop.drinkxfuel.com/Team-Foxy-Gamers-Apparel_c4.htm
http://www.shop.drinkxfuel.com/Khaos-Clothing_c6.htm
http://www.shop.drinkxfuel.com/Respawn-Radio-Gear_c5.htm

To order email me with your team name and graphic at jgere@traxsion.com, I will confirm whether or not the graphic is able to be printed as is. We can not correct your art but will help guide you to fix any problems we see. After that visit our e-store www.shop.drinkxfuel.com and purchase a product called “custom shirt”, you will need to put into the note section your team name, the four sizes with the gamer tags the way you want them (ex. XxXzetoXxX) and within 7 days we will print and ship your shirts and box of Xfuel and you’ll be on your way to winning!!!
And YES, Frozenghost001, XxXzetoXxX) and I do personally print your shirts!

Extra shirts will be available at the regular price of $16.99 including gamer tag. Vinyl banners and posters available upon request.

College Cash Is Easy To Make with Xfuel

Xfuel is going to be the next big thing at college campuses in 2009 and your going to be part of the equation that makes the BIG $$$. The college crowd wants a great tasting shot with a boost and you will have access to it at a discount!

Xfuel as you know gets the job done and has an addictive flavor and effect that will keep selling itself all year long. Imagine all the commission going right into your pocket with your initial efforts being to get people to try the product for first time. Once they do that first shot they will be hooked and a steady annuity for you all year long.

That said, let's get to work selling the best energy shot ever made and give us access to buy the product @ a wholesale price of 1.75 each and sell it for 3.00 each. That's a sweet 15.00 per box that you should be able to sell on campus daily or 7 boxes @ 105.00 per week at the beginning of this business. Once you have the steady customers don't be surprised if you bringing in a steady 1000.00 per month. This is not an mlm and there is no monthly fees or initiation fees. As I mentioned there are two ways to make money which I will review again.

1) you promote the heck out of Xfuel all over the web etc and tell people to buy it and give them a code (email me for your code) we can track and that will enable them to get 10% off and free shipping and I will give you $0.75 a bottle for every bottle sold under your code which is 9.00 per box. We'll review the sales and monthly can transfer funds into pay pal or write you a check.

2) I give you a code to buy 2 boxes of Xfuel at a time minimum for $1.75 a bottle and that includes shipping, you turn around and sell them locally to your friends on campus, frats, at local LAN centers, tournaments etc for $3 each, you make $1.25 a bottle. #1 is clean and doesn't take to much time but the results may not be worth the effort right away? The reason I put #2 there was simple. A kid (18 yrs old) in Texas approached me to do this where he buys it and sells it on campus and I said OK. The first week which was two weeks ago he ordered 2 packs - 36 bottles or $45 in profit if they all sold. The second time he ordered 12 packs -144 bottles or $180 in profit - not bad for weekend spending cash. If you are a hustler and can sell and believe in our product, purchase your product right now and get started making money in 72 hours when your product gets delivered.

If you go to www.shop.drinkxfuel.com and use the checkout code (oops you must email me to get this code and qualify) it will cost you $1.75 per bottle shipped to you. That's the scoop. This is product we ship to you and you resell to friends and family!

Xfuel and 95.9 The Rat WRAT-FM launch mobile Guitar Challenge series

July 7, 2009

Xfuel and 95.9 The Rat WRAT-FM launched the ultimate virtual Guitar Challenge vehicle that has contestants challenging each other (or just playing for fun) in an outdoor like concert atmosphere.

July 7, 2009 --
Xfuel the Extreme Energy Shot for gamers and 95.9 The Rat WRAT-FM developed and launched the ultimate virtual Guitar Challenge vehicle. The vehicle is a self-contained trailer that has contestants challenging each other (or just playing for fun) in an outdoor like concert atmosphere complete with life size virtual graphics and enough amps to rival Woodstock. The Guitar Challenge uses both Guitar Hero and Rock Band games but as the name implies focuses only on the guitars. This allows for single player (walk up) competition.

The Guitar Challenge trailer first debuted in June at MLG Columbus, Ohio where it was positioned on Main Street right outside the convention center. “We rocked out till midnight right on the main street, the Police came by several times and helped us with parking and asked if we needed anything, the local people were just great and of course the MLG crowd was fantastic. It was better than we imagined, all you have to do is go to You Tube and search Xfuel to see all the videos!” cited Alex Gere aka frozenghost001. Since that event, the trailer has been wrapped in Xfuel black and green with The Rat proudly displayed on the side and has been making stops along the Jersey Shore where it has crowds rocking nightly.

Howie Panes VP Sales and Marketing says, “The excitement level at these Guitar Challenges has been so high that we’ve taken what some of the players had to say about Xfuel and incorporated it into a new slogan “Slam It! Taste It! Feel It!”. We tell everyone just watch the You Tube videos. It’s crazy! Kids, young adults and parents, they all love it. It’s been wonderful to see the kids jamming to the same music that their parents did, the events are fun for the entire family.”

The trailer is available to both current and potential customers of Xfuel and WRAT as a stand alone promotional event or part of The Guitar Challenge package that includes on-air advertising and an unbelievable grand prize!
95.9 The Rat WRAT-FM first began broadcasting an "active rock" format on Labor Day 1996. The first song that day was AC/DC's "For Those About To Rock." The Rat has quickly gained a loyal following, filling a void in the Monmouth/Ocean (N.J.) radio market, by providing a local station with a rock format and approach, which listeners previously only heard via stations broadcasting from New York City and Philadelphia.
Xfuel is the creation of Alex Gere, Austin Gere and friend Nick Panes. Xfuel is a 2oz. Extreme Energy Shot that tastes great and promises to take your game to the Next Level by increasing your energy, awareness, focus and stamina, all the things Gamers need to defeat their competition. Xfuel is packed with energy and Vitamins B3, B6, B12 and Vitamin C with zero calories, zero sugars and zero cholesterol.

Interview with X Fuel

Question 1. Who are you and what is the name of your company.

Xfuel is a brand of energy shot made by About Me Labs, LLC out of Livingston, NJ. The 3 main characters are Howie Panes, Greg Perri and myself Joe Gere. Howie has run a fitness center (HowFit) in NJ for 18 years and has had many pro athletes including 2 heavyweights champs!!! Greg has a graphic arts/printing firm called Digital Retouching & Production and me, well I’m the multi-tasker, I’ve started, owned, ran & sold all kinds of companies from trucking to software to fashion and everything in between.

Question 2. How many people work for your company?

As you know we are new and very small the total company is Howie, Greg, my sons Alex & Austin, Howie’s son Nick and myself at this point in time.

Question 3. Who came up with the idea for Xfuel energy shot originally? What’s the story behind it?

The concept solely belongs to my son Alex Gere. This is a long story but Howie and I were part of a n investment group to make a sports energy shot, a truly unique product in the market and with Howie’s background training top athletes came up with the secret parts of the formula. That group came apart late last fall, I blame it on the fact that we didn’t run it but were just part of it – anyway we(Howie & I) were very depressed about this and said “We want no part of the beverage business, that’s it - over!”

Fast forward 3 months to New Years Eve 2008 to my sons 14th birthday (yes, born on the 31st) and a New Years Eve party where Alex (who is top ranked in Guitar Hero) defeats 32 kids in a row before the rest just gave up. On the way home that night Alex says “Dad you should do a drink just for Gamers!” as my wife and I saw so many kids sneaking in RB’s and 5hr’s, etc. Typical father response to an absurd statement, “Yea sure, and what do we call it?”, he responds, “Xfuel”. That was technically Jan 1st of 2009 and by Jan 11th we filed trademarks and Alex together with my brother-in-law Greg started with the graphics, colors, etc and Xfuel was born!!!

That all there is to it and it’s been a whirlwind since the 11th of Jan, 2009 no master whiz bang 50 page plan this time. The first time we read the master plan, listened to all the experts who they brought onboard and it still went no where!!!!

Question 4. How was the flavors chosen?

This was simple and I told this just yesterday to the Senior VP at one of the largest shot manufactures in the US, who is also in NJ and it goes like this – Howie and I could not be farther apart on the taste so we did the smart thing. We got a group of 14-20 year olds from the neighborhood and had them taste what had to be 30 shots and they all said they tasted terrible and listened to what they wanted it to taste like. After 8 batches we had the Xfuel flavor which starts out sweet and turns a little tart but with no bitter after taste and it doesn’t repeat on you which so many of them do!!!

Xfuel has been called watermelon, kiwi, strawberry, etc and even chocolate!!! But it’s not designed to taste like something else; its Xfuel flavored not Grapefuel or Orangefuel.

Question 5. How did you decide which ingredients to put in X Fuel. Have the ingredients changed over time and if so why?

The ingredients came mostly from the sport shot that we were going to do minus certain athletic supplements. Yes, the initial ingredients did change before we started production but only 1 time. The main reason for the change is I have some stomach problems and almost every energy drink leaves me with an uneasy feeling. Our initial blend which was much cheaper to produce made my stomach upset within 3-5 minutes after drinking it. I was not happy with that and drew the line and said “I need to be able to drink this, if we expect young adults & late teens to consume Xfuel we can’t have a product that can upset someone’s stomach.” So it costs us more now but at least I can drink! Yes, in a short time we have done allot and that’s because we believe in what we are doing, it’s not just a product it an Attitude, Attitude + Energy = Xfuel!

Question 6. Do you plan on releasing other flavors or maybe a full size drink?

I don’t expect that we will release other flavors as then we are just another grape or berry shot. What I do expect is that we will release an athletic version of Xfuel similar to our original sports drink because Xfuel is not just for virtual gamers it can give you the energy and focus you need to perform in any sport, baseball, football, track etc, etc and we feel putting those little extras back in the bottle will help with muscle fatigue & recovery even more. I would also expect us to release a few more products that are engineered toward specific markets as well.

A full size drink – maybe, but for today we have all we can handle doing shots and just getting our distribution channels up and running – after that there could be lots of things!

Question 7. Some companies target extreme athletes, Students, Party crowd, etc... Who is your target market?

This is good question and I’ll give you and answer I will probably regret later. The product was designed to help gamers and by gamers we mean video gamers in particular. Now expand that to who are video gamers? Almost every High School / College student who does anything from liberal arts studies to the quarterback of the football team plays video games to the housewife who plays on-line slots or poker!!! Watch almost any show on MTV from skateboarders at home to customizing a Range Rover and you’ll see video games of some sort in every one of them!

So, our target market is probably more diverse than of the other ones that the big brands focus one – we have our work cut out for us!

Question 8. Who is your products main competition? Energy drinks, Energy shots, energy pills. The big boys like RB or Monster?

Most definitely the other energy shot companies and both Monster and RB have launched shots into the market within the last couple months. Xfuel has a long steep hill to climb and it won’t be easy. I believe the fact that we do not have the money that the majors have makes us find more creative ways to do things. I can’t tell you how many people come up to us and call us and ask which of the big drink companies is behind us? We’ve done much more with much less than any of the big boys because we have to, we can’t throw millions at something and hope it sticks, we make believers of our customers and they help us spread the word.

Question 9. What are your feelings on the current controversy concerning mixing energy drinks and alcohol?

I have to pass on this question, but will say this - people need to do things in moderation, you can abuse almost anything to the point of it hurting yourself or worse yet someone else.

Question 10. Who designed your bottle and Label? Why was this design chosen?

The design concept was my 14 yr old son Alex and along with Greg (his uncle) it was refined to what we have today. The bottle was simple we wanted a larger diameter opening so you don’t have to suck it out a tiny hole like the 50 other shots that are out there.

Why the design we have, because we made sheets of different graphics 30 in all and had teenage / early 20’s focus groups (OK, neighbor kids) go through all the different elements until we narrowed it down to some basic things that evoked energized emotions in people Lightning bolts, the word Fuel, a big X, the color black with bright colors against it, so on and so on.

I’ll sound a little anti-establishment here but you don’t need a PHD to see what younger people like or feel, if you just open your eyes and ears and let them tell you what they want and listen to them you can’t go wrong. When you get to be 46 yrs old like I am you tend to over analyze things, when I was 20 years old I just did it, the more people said no the more I did it – whatever it was!!!

Our bottle reflects that younger attitude.

Question 11: Where is X Fuel distributed and do you plan on expanding.

Again we are less than 120 days old from concept to today April 30, 2009. We are available via the web and in select NJ stores on a trial basis and next week our first distributor sets out to place Xfuel in his over 1,100 stores in NJ alone. We hope to reach an agreement in the next couple weeks for limited distribution into NY, CT and eastern PA. After that, we’ll take it one state at time as we can find distributors who have the Xfuel Attitude.

Question 12: Are you selling your shots internationally?

Not at this time but would if the right someone wanted to distribute for us.

Question 13. Do you drink X Fuel on a regular basis yourself?

Yes, I probably drink 3-4 bottles a week mainly as I try to stay up and write responses to interviews like this (LOL)

Question 14: Do you feel web presence is important for an energy drink company?

In today’s world you need a good web presence, we are re-working our site now to include sections for all our gamers that we sponsor, our wrestlers, skateboarders and hopefully allot more things as we go forward.

Question 15. Tell all Energy drink junkies out there why they should use and support X Fuel. Give us your best sales pitch.

Best sales pitch???? This is a story for all you gamers out there and it might hurt some of you but you are who you are and we as parents have to live with that.

Xfuel is about you, I was one of those 99% of the parents out there who still today are embarrassed to tell other parents that my kids play video games and they play them well, in fact better the well they’re great at it!

I wanted my Alex to be the quarterback or the pitcher but it wasn’t in the cards for him, he was not going to be the star of any sports team just like 99% of the other kids won’t be either! The worse he played on the field and the more he played those stupid games the more disappointed / angry I became. It wasn’t until Xbox live that really understood the value of these games and that my son could excel at things that well are probably more important than throwing a baseball. My son gets on a game system and talks to complete strangers, in fact in games like Halo or Gears of War he bosses people around that are on his team – how could my son show signs of leadership abilities??? How is he able to work with people who are as diverse as you can get – in fact some barely speak English, they are from around the world!!! As I sat back week after week watching all this I realized, he was maybe better able to deal with things in his working career as it will be a truly more global economy than the guy throwing the baseball. I’m not saying just play video games but this company and Xfuel is about people like you – we sponsor over 100 gamers today that play in tournaments all over.

So, back to my sales pitch, Xfuel won’t change the genes you got from your parents so if you can’t throw a 100 mph fast ball now, taking Xfuel won’t change that but it will give you more energy, stamina and focus to do the things that your good at doing not the things your parents want you to do!
